Mort du fondateur du mythique club
de rock CBGB
C’est avec une grande tristesse que nous apprenons la mort de Hilly Kristal à
l’âge de 75 ans.
Y825 transmet ses condoléances à sa
famille.
Hilly avait fondé au centre de
Manhattan (Greenwich village) le célèbre et mythique club CBGB & OMFUG en 1973
pour y passer de la country music mais la salle vécu la naissance du punk rock
et devint rapidement la plaque tournante d'un rock underground où des groupes
comme Patti Smith, Television, les Ramones ou les Talking Heads, pour n’en citer
que quelques-uns y ont été découvert.
La Club a été forcé de fermer
définitivement ses portes en octobre dernier pour des questions immobilières.

The founder of the mythical rock club CBGB passed away.
It is with great sorrow that we just learned the demise of
Hilly Kristal at the age of 75.
Y825 extend its condolences to his family.
Hilly founded CBGB & OMFUG in 1973, originally made for
country music, but his mythical club located in the heart of Manhattan
(Greenwich Village) saw the birth of the punk-rock and became quickly the
unavoidable crossroad of the underground rock from which bands like Patti Smith,
The Ramones, Television or the Talking Heads just to name few, were discovered.
The club was forced to close
last October following a dispute over the lease. |
